I want to first say may our Lord Jesus be the focus of our new year. May we strive to give Him full access to all that we do and are. After all He is the Lord. May we resolve as a church body to love one another and lift each other up and not to tear down or ridicule. Resolving to forgive and put aside all malice and discontent towards any brother or sister in the body. Remember that we are family and family loves, lives and stays together.
Do you remember this song: Making your way in the world today takes everything youve got taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lot wouldnt you like to get away? Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name and theyre always glad you came, you wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same you wanna go where everybody knows your name.
This of course was the theme song from the TV show Cheers. I have loved the song for years and have always thought it would be a great theme song for the church. It catches some of the personal and physical blessings of being a part of the body of Christ. Being able to come to a place where everybody will make an effort to know your name and having people glad that you came; I mean actually happy to see you.
Would you go to a place like that? That is what we should be displaying as new people come to the House. Show that we love each other and are happy to be together. Then invite them into our happiness.
Let us pray for restoration of those that have gone and unity. That we would be a Phil 2:2 church make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind, regard one another as more important than yourselves.
I pray that this would be the year that we see the prodigals coming back to the family and being restored. We have already seen six come back to the Father this month. I am praying for 100 this year, can you agree and pray with me? Now is the day, now is the time, let this be the generation that seeks the Lord and moves to bring in the harvest.

Dearest Friends and Family of Abba’s House,
The blessed day of our Lord’s birth is coming quickly upon us. Of course we do not know the exact day but the 25th is the day we have set aside to celebrate the gift of the Son. How we need to thank the Father for sending His Son. Can you begin to imagine a life without Christmas? How would the world be without this gift of Jesus? So many want to either stop it all together or take the heart out of it by calling it the “Holidays” instead of what it really is Christmas – Jesus’ birthday.
This gift of Christmas changed the world. That tiny baby born in a manger turned out to be the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He came for one purpose to set men free from their sins and to once again restore to us a relationship with the Father of all creation.
Most Christmas’ are spent with family and friends exchanging gifts and eating way too much. Christmas lights and trees decorate our homes and children’s eyes are wide with amazement as we drive around the town while listening to our favorite Christmas songs. But hush listen, can you hear the cry of the baby born on Christmas Day? He laid in a manger but now sits at the right hand of the Father.
This year Christmas day is on a Sunday. What a more fitting day to come to church and give to the Lord our gifts of love and affection to that baby whom we celebrate - His birth. “Let us bring Him silver and gold” I want to encourage you to give the gift of life, your life to Him. A gift much more valuable than that sung about. The wise men brought the gifts of the world. What He wants is our hearts and our worship. Come attend church this Christmas, come and worship the King. Last year we had the slogan “His sacrifice, our Gift.” This year let’s make it “Our gift, His lordship over us.”
I want to give my all to Him, not just on this wonderful day but on all the wonderful days He has given me to serve Him. “Oh come let us adore Him, O come let us adore Him, Oh come let us adore Him – Christ (Jesus the Son of God) the Lord (King and Ruler of my soul).

Our identity is not in how much we have or how big our bank account is. It is not in the fancy car we drive or even in the house we live in. It is not in the job we do or the ministry God has given us to do. Our identity is not even in the children we have or in our wife or husband. Some of these are wonderful things and gifts from the Lord but they are not our identity.
Our identity is as a genuine lover of God. Guilt would say to us that our actions are wrong. Shame says we (our whole personhood) are wrong. Satan would have us believe that we are worthless because of the things we do that are contrary to the Word of the Lord, but God never declares us worthless. He sees us much differently than we see ourselves. Remember Gideon who was hiding in a wine vat when the angel of the Lord came to him – “oh mighty man of valor” he proclaimed. How laughable and yet God saw him in a different light. Aren’t you glad God see you differently than you see yourself?
Question: are you a slave of sin who struggles to love God or a lover of God who struggles with sin. The way you answer this question will have a great effect on your spiritual walk with the Lord. Paul told the church that we are no longer slaves to sin but now we are indeed children of the most High God. Learn to love Him and don’t carry shame, we are guilty but His blood covers our sin and we are glorious in His eyes. Remember who you are in Christ and who Christ is in you. You are not a failure when you are loving the Lord and making progress no matter how slowly that progress may be. Praise Him for His Love!!

Dear Friends,
Well summer has gone and fall is upon us. The kids are back to school and we start the years routine. I want to encourage all to get actively involved in the "stuff" we have going on at Abba's House. Place yourself in a position to receive from the Lord. To do this we have to be where there is teaching, fellowship and prayer. I would encourage you to come to Wednesday night bible study(6:30 child care available), we are studying the gifts of the Spirit. On Sunday night(6:30) we are searching the book the Song of Songs and seeing the love the bride has and needs to have for the bridegroom and seeing the love the bridegroom has for the bride. The Bridge(young adults 18-30ish 6:00) has started a new study on friday nights as well.
When was the last time you witnessed to someone and then invited them to church. I challenge you to do this this school year. We have a little girl in our group that has done so probably more that any other in the church. If you believe that our church is a good place to be - invite family, neighbors, friends to come. I still see the prodigals coming back and bringing their friends. It 's time for us to get out and bring in the harvest. Become gatherers in the field. Jesus told us to "go into all the earth" - let us obey the word of the Lord.
I love being the pastor of Abba's House. I believe we have the greatest people there are and I so enjoy seeing you grow in His love and His work. We have much to accomplish, so let get out there and win one for the gipper (from an old movie staring Ronald Reagan) or actually win one for the Lord Jesus.
Love you all with all my heart

Dear Church Family,
I want to say that I am honored to be the pastor of Abba’s House. There is much going on and you can feel the presence of the Lord as we come together. I see so much growth in the body, especially in a couple of you. Keep searching for Him. He is our life and our calling. His Spirit is making us a home and not just a house. As we come closer to Him and one another, He is blessed. How He loves it when His kids love one another. Keep it up as we grow.
Sunday I spoke on the fact that the Father loves us. Knowing that simple fact changed my life many years ago. Listening to the lyrics of a simple song (I failed you once again, I promised that I wouldn’t Lord how can I be your friend) how many times I thought of this. The Devil will remind you of your failures and the times you came up short of being like Jesus. At those times you may have felt like I did listening to that song, but as the chorus began it changed my life (somehow I know, somehow you care, somehow you love me).
Have you struggled with this simple yet powerful fact? Have you heard in your spirit that the Lord, the Creator of the universe loves you? Do you know that? If not open your heart and hear what the Spirit has to say to you – simply this – I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU!!!
We have a great road ahead of us and together as a family we will see our House turned into a Home.
If I call your name – will you hear me?
If I ask you to walk with me – will you take my hand?
When I tell you I love you – will you love me back?
God the Father love us and wants us to experience that love. Allow Him to speak to you.

A letter from one of our missionaries:
Hello,
If you know me at all you would know I really hate asking for personal help, I think God is pretty funny that He would put me in a position that I would need to do so. In fact, I would much rather work long hours at a job and give all the money away, but then I wouldn't be in His will any longer so...
Here is my heart, raw.
I have settled into the most difficult place I have ever encountered this week, and I do mean "settled" which is why I need YOU.
I am seriously battling ... and although I want to continue believing and standing in faith alone. I feel pushed to the place that God says I need to call on an army for help.
You are the only army I know so please hear my call...
I (me, June) have a desperate need for prayer and finances. There, I said it!
Ministry (Ignite) is going incredibly well - supernaturally so, yet I am personally bone weary finding myself in a place I have never been. I will share a few of the challenges:
You see, my family has been "in crisis" experiencing significant life changes and stressors since August leaving my heart tender and longing to be there.
Since December technical difficulties have caused my website to freeze, my e-newsletter to be lost, and most recently my email to bounce (all at differing times yet every one a means by which I communicated with you). These require rebuilding that is incredibly time consuming and challenging for me when the demands of closing the ministry year and strategizing for next year are competing for my time.
Finally, my personal finances have remained painfully tight with a budget that only allows necessities.
I average $900/month (thank you to all who give so faithfully!)
$715 goes to rent, utilities and insurance
less than $200 for groceries, fuel, and ...
This month I received $595.00 which does not pay my bills.
My needs are quite simple. Prayer and finances, finances and prayer.
Every $1, $5, $10 given adds up and no amount is too small and can be given through paypal or by check...
Every dollar will help me pay this months expenses any extra will cover money loaned for airfare this summer, my glasses, and finally to repair my car. If you would like more information about any of these details I'd be happy to share, just email me at june_ignitesouthafrica.org (remember this email bounces). Anyhow...
Here I stand, without pretense or pride asking an army to hear my call for help.
Thank you so much for reading, and know that although I am an ocean away you are thought of and prayed for - often.
Hugs,
June

The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God, without error in the original languages. 2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12
God as Father
He is the creator of the heavens, the earth, man, and is sole authority over all. He purposes redemption, unity, peace, love and relationship with man. The best illustration of this is the relationship He had with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 3:8 John 1:12, Galatians 3:26, Ephesians 2:19, 3:15, 5:1.
God as Son
Jesus Christ, God in flesh, God's only son, conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin Mary. Jesus was both fully God and fully man. His purpose was to restore the relationship man can have with God that was broken by sin through His death on the cross. Luke 1:27, 31:35, John 3:16-17, Romans 5:10, Ephesians 5:2
God as Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the person and expression of the Trinity who manifests the power and nature of the Father within the all believers giving them the power to live a holy life and guide them in truth. His presence is what makes the Christian life complete lacking nothing. His absence makes life empty and unfulfilled. Romans 8:9, Galatians 4:6, John 14:16-27, James 1:4
Trinity
The Bible teaches that there is One living and true God manifesting Himself in Three Persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each having identical qualities and attributes.Jeremiah 10:10, Genesis 1:1, 1:26, Matthew 3:16-17, Luke 1:35, John 10:30-38, 1 Timothy 1:17
Mankind
People are created in the image of God, and are designed to reflect His character. Genesis 1:26-27 People are the supreme object of God's creation and love. Psalm 8:3-6 God intended man to live with Him forever in an unbroken relationship. That relationship was broken through Adam's willful transgression and disobedience. People have fallen from their original created state of righteousness, peace, and joy into a state of separation from God. Isaiah 53:6, 59:1-2 Being separated from the source of life, love, and joy has resulted in bondage and death. People are unable to deliver themselves from their sinful condition, but are totally dependant upon the power of God as presented in the Gospel of Jesus Christ to restore that relationship. Romans 3:23 We are to be transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ. Romans 8:29
Sin
Sin is rebellion against God's standard of holiness. Romans 1:19-20, 25 The act of rebellion can be by action or omission, something we should do but don't. James 4:17 Sin is also the nature of mankind since Adam sinned. Adam's willful act of disobedience brought sin and death into mankind. The death that was the result of the sin caused the separation from God. Romans 5:12-18.
Salvation
Because people are unable to save themselves from their sinful condition, salvation is altogether the work of God. John 14:6, Romans. 5:6-21 Neither good works nor self-improvement can make up for our sin. Ephesians 2:8-9 Salvation is the free gift of God. However, like any gift it must be received. This gift is received by faith, or by believing and trusting in Jesus Christ who died as our substitute that we might live. Through repentance from sin and faith toward God, we turn from our self-ruled life to trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Titus 3:5-6 We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ; His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human efforts Romans 10: 9-10
The Church
The church is composed of people who have experienced, through faith in Christ, the new birth into the family of God. Ephesians 3:14-15, John 1:12-13 All true believers have been called out of the world and into the church, the body of Christ. Romans 12:5, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Ephesians 1:22-23 Since the New Testament exhorts believers to gather for such purposes as worship, prayer, fellowship, sharing the Lord's Supper, teaching of the Word, ministry to fellow Christians, and evangelism, the local church is an indispensable part of God's plan for His people and the world. Acts 2:42, Hebrews 10:25, Ephesians 4:11-13
The local church is God's chosen instrument to: demonstrate the power of God's love and grace, nurture Christians and fulfill the Great Commission.
The church is also the Bride of Christ for whom Christ will return. Ephesians 5:27, John 3:29, 2 Corinthians 11:2, Revelation 19:7-8
The Bride Price is a dowry paid by the bridegroom to secure his bride. Jesus paid the price by sacrificing His life, is engaged in the sanctification (making holy) so that a holy church can be presented to Himself.
Baptism of the Spirit
Given at Pentecost, Acts 1:5,8 2:1-4 8:14-17, 44-47, 19:1-6 the Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father, sent by Jesus after His Ascension, to empower the Church to be effective in their Witness and in their Lifestyle thus attracting the lost to the victorious, overcoming life of a New Testament Believer.
Gifts of the Spirit
We understand the Bible to be very specific and clear as it pertains to the Gifts of the Spirit and their manifestations in the present day church. We believe they are both available and operable not only in our church gatherings, but that they should be evident in our everyday lives.
We believe that the Holy Spirit has given spiritual gifts to all believers for the purpose of building up the body of Christ and bringing glory to God. 1 Corinthians 12:11, Romans 11:29 The Holy Spirit is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts to build and sanctify the church, demonstrate the validity of the resurrection, and confirm the power of the Gospel. The gifts are to be exercised in love and emphasize the need for unity. 1 Corinthians 12:7, 8-10, Romans 12:6-8 All believers are commanded to earnestly desire the manifestation of the gifts in their lives. These gifts always operate in harmony with the Scriptures and should never be used in violation of God's Word. 1 Corinthians 14:1, 2 Timothy 1:5-16,
Further Study
Hebrews 2:4; 1Corinthians 12:1-31, 14:1-40; 1 Peter 4:10
Ordinances:
Water Baptism
Baptism is more than a Christian tradition. Baptism is an act of obedience following after the example Jesus Christ gave us with His own baptism. As follower of Christ, the new believer is commanded by the Word of God To be baptized in water in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Baptism is the way the new believer identifies with Christ as Lord, His death and resurrection to a new life. It is an outward expression of an inward work that has occurred as a result of faith in Christ. Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38
The Lord's Supper
Jesus Christ instituted the Lord's Supper on the night before He was crucified as a symbolic presentation of the believerÕs participation in the benefits of His death. Jesus instructed the disciples to eat the bread and drink of the cup in remembrance of Him until He returns. The bread represents His body, which was given for us (1Peter 2:24) and the blood represents a new covenant (Ephesians 2:4-5, 8,9). A unique time of communion in the presence of God when the elements of bread and grape juice (the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ) are taken in remembrance of Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross Matthew 26:26-29, 1 Corinthians 11:23-25.
Repentance
Repentance is a decision to change the mind and attitude and commit to turn away from sin in every area of our lives and to follow Christ, which allows us to receive His redemption and to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Thus, through repentance we receive forgiveness of sins and appropriate salvation Acts 2:21, 3:19; 1 John 1:9 A pricking of heart; poignant grief or remorse proceeding from a consciousness of guilt; the pain of sorrow or regret for having offended God
Sanctification
Sanctification is the ongoing process that God begins in the life of a new believer. God makes us holy because of our faith in Christ. Acts 26:18, 1Corinthinas 6:11 God calls us to abide in the Word and live by His Spirit in order to complete the development of Christ's character in us. It is through the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God that the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. 1Thessalonians 5:23; 2 Corinthians 3:18, 6:17, Romans 12:1-2, 7:1
Heaven, Hell & Eternal Destiny
God created people to exist forever. Heaven is the eternal dwelling place for all believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. Eternal separation from God is Hell. Eternal fellowship and union with God is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
Matthew 6:20, 19:21; John 14:1-4, 2 Corinthians 5:1, John 3:16-21, Matthew 25:31-46; 2 Thessalonians 19; Revelation 20:10-15
Jesus Christ indwells all believers
Christians are people who have invited the Lord Jesus Christ to come and live inside them by His Holy Spirit. They relinquish the authority of their lives over to him thus making Jesus the Lord of their life as well as Savior. They put their trust in what Jesus accomplished for them when He died, was buried, and rose again from the dead. John 14:17, Romans 8:11; Revelation 3:20. Bought with a price. 1 Corinthians 7:23
It is the vision of this church that through the outpouring of the Father's love, that a generation of true worshippers will arise and bring a revival of love and affection for the Lord to this place.
It is the vision of this church to lead people into spiritual maturity through discipleship, Bible studies, small groups, seminars, and retreats.
It is the vision of this church to equip every believer for a significant ministry by helping them discover the gifts and talents God has given them.
It is the vision of this church to be a place where the hurting, the oppressed, the frustrated, and the confused can find the love, acceptance and tender affections of the Father bringing them hope, forgiveness, healing, restoration, guidance, and encouragement.
It is the vision of this church to see families restored according to God's promise to turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers.
It is the vision of this church that children will have a great place of priority in His House. The gifts of the Spirit will be poured out on this new generation and they will move out in power and great anointing.
It is the vision of this church that when the world sees the Love of the Father in our midst that the prodigals will return and become an army of evangelists, teachers, counselors and workers in the Kingdom.
It is the vision of this church that because of experiencing the Father's love, the body of Christ will in turn love the world around us. We believe that this body of Christ will love our neighbors in practical ways, and that we as a church will send out missionaries and church workers all around the world.
Come Join us in seeing this Vision fulfilled here in Owosso!
The Word says that we are all called to minister,
One to Another...
Abba's House Christian Fellowship would love to see you get involved! These are some of the ministries that we have, but we are always open to new things...If you don't see anything here to fit you, or if you have a desire to see something else started, come and share your vision to reach people with the Love of the Father!
Abba's Kids
So what happens with kids while the adults are in their church services on Sunday and Wednesday? First of all, the kids have their own worship time with music that they understand and that is geared for children. We use lost of great music like Hill Song Kids. Then the kids go for their own clases (1.5-4 years, Kindergarten-2nd Grade, 3rd-5th Grade), with lessons that are age appropriate. All of this is for a purpose and that is to help the kids to come to know the love of Jesus and then to share it with others that they know. We want the kids to know that Jesus is concerned for them and understands their problems and their joys. Do you have kids? Do you want them to have a place to belong and to be loved? Do you want them to come to know Jesus as their Father, and friend? Then bring them to Abba's Kids!
Driven is taking a break as we wait for God to give us new leaders
The Bridge
The Bridge is our Fellowship for young adults from post high school to age 35. We have great time on Friday nights at 6:00 pm at the Serene Bean Bisto on Washington St. We are currently studying the "minor" prophets of the Old Testiment. We also have a heart for service in our community. We try to do monthly or bi-bonthly service projects and we invite groups from the community to join us. The Bridge also spends lots of time doing fun things together as a group throughout the week. We would love to have you join us.
World Missions
We at Abba's House believe that all Christians are called to bring the Good News of Jesus to the World. We are actively involved in bringing Jesus to those close to us here at home and to those around the world. We give 10% of the tithes that come into our church to missions as well as other gifts. At this time we are supporting three missionaries. Bopha and Somnang, are missionaries in the Northeastern part of Cambodia called Stung Treng. They work in community development as well as in church planting. We are also involved in supporting June Blanshan, a missionary working in Africa. Frank and Shawn Dvorak are our missionaries that are working with Bible translation in Africa. Please see the Our Heart tab for a message from June.
